System Invisalign
Invisalign is a modern alternative to traditional fixed braces. The system is based on a series of transparent aligners, custom-designed to fit the patient’s bite using digital impressions. During treatment, the patient wears between 12 and 48 specially shaped trays — depending on the severity of the malocclusion — until the teeth are properly aligned. Each aligner is worn for two weeks before being replaced with the next one in the series.
The key advantages of Invisalign are its discretion and the ability to remove the aligners at any time — for example, while eating or brushing your teeth.
When Should the First Orthodontic Visit Take Place?
Many parents wonder when their child should first see an orthodontist. A good time is around ages 6–7, when the transition from mixed to permanent dentition begins. However, in some cases, an orthodontic consultation may be needed even earlier.
Signs that your child may need an urgent orthodontic evaluation include:
- Constantly open mouth
- Mouth breathing
- Harmful habits like thumb sucking, prolonged pacifier use, nail or pencil biting
- Premature loss of baby teeth (often due to cavities)
- Protruding or recessed chin
- Speech difficulties
- Crowded teeth or excessive gaps between teeth
In preschool-aged children, the focus is on prevention and eliminating harmful habits. A diet rich in firm foods is also essential, as chewing helps shape proper bite and jaw development.
